Sealing

...Food that is. We spent the weekend sealing food in Ft. Myers with Granny. We went to Sams and picked up a bunch of food and sealed on Friday, and then finished up Sat. morning and decided to go to Costco and check out what they had and stocked up on some more goodies. With the economy the way it is, food prices increasing, hurricane season coming, etc., we just couldn't put it off any longer. Sometimes it gets hard to prioritize and build up your supply of food when you have "life" to deal with. Randy and I both felt really strongly about setting aside the time and getting it done. We wanted to have things that we would recycle each month and use, so that we are constantly using our supply and not just watching it sit and eventually rot. We recently had to throw away a few months of MRE's and other storage food, and that bothered us...wasted food. Now I am going to try and rotate our sealed food in each month and we are going to seal twice a year after conference. You are always spiritually uplifted after conference, so this should keep us going, right?

This is a pic of some of the food we sealed...the rice and granola is under Gavin's crib. Some food items we sealed: Rice (Lots), Cherios, Mac-n-cheese, Granola, pasta's , Graham Crackers, Goldfish, Wheat Crackers, Oats, Animal Crackers, Breakfast Shake mix, Brown Sugar, Wht. Sugar, Ramen.

I hear 'ya! We're doing the same, getting more and more food that we use all the time so we have a good supply. That is one of the reasons that I like my shelving unit so much.
